Stephen S. DeWeese

Stephen S. DeWeese is one of the senior partners of the firm and a recognized leader in estate planning, trust, and probate law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History, with honors, from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Capital University Law School in 1990. While at Capital, he served as a Law Review Notes Editor and was inducted into the Order of the Curia.

Stephen was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1990 and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1992. He is certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law—an achievement held by a select group of attorneys statewide. He joined the firm in 1991 following his service as a Judicial Law Clerk to Judges Miller and Hadley of the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals and was named a partner in 1995.

As a partner, Stephen provides strategic leadership in the firm’s estate planning and fiduciary practice. His work is focused on advanced estate planning, trust and estate administration, and advising fiduciaries on complex legal and tax considerations. He is frequently sought out for his depth of experience, sound judgment, and ability to guide clients through sophisticated planning and administration matters with clarity and precision.

Stephen is an active member of the legal and local community. He is an active member and past President of the Worthington A.M. Rotary Club and sits on the board of the Worthington Estate Planning Council. He is also a member of the American, Ohio, and Columbus Bar Associations, as well as the Christian Legal Society.
